The Canon Meets Kimberly

The Hall Family

My best compliment as a photographer is when my clients come see me again!  My first session with the Hall family was shooting their two beautiful boys
(See my blog archive title: Patience + Perseverance = Success).
Today I had the wonderful opportunity of photographing the whole family, and I was honored. Kimberly and Edward are the amazing parents to Jeremiah and Jaden (whom both are diagnosed with Autism).
It was challenging attempting to get the typical, structured, family group shot, however my goal was to simply go with the flow and capture candid, honest expressions.
The Hall Family helped me realize I may not know the recipe to a fabulous homemade pie, but I do know a little somethin' about a fabulous shoot. It doesn't matter if one has special needs or not, the ingredients for a Jazzy family photo are pure moments of love, affection, and togetherness. Add a touch of patience, and a whole lotta love...and voila!! An eyeful of organic delicious-ness!

Theres such a sparkle here. It just makes me smile.

The Miracle of Motherhood

*This Blog is dedicated to my beautiful mom, Carol. Whom doesn't need a cape for anyone to see what a Superwoman she truly is. I love you. Thank you.

*To Mama Emily, who did not give birth to me biologically, but my home will always be where their heart is, I love you. Thank you.

If you are a mother and you are reading this, Happy Mother's Day!! This is my second Mom's Day and I get emotional every year. Well actually, I get emotional all the time since I've become a mom. I'm emo just writing this!! I feel becoming a mother was the greatest miracle of my life. My inspiration of photography is because of my son. I bet any mother out there will agree that the love between mother and child exemplifies the miracles of life.
The experience can sometimes be a sour taste but it's the awesome sauce that makes it all worthwhile.
I wanted to take the time to write and to honor all the wonderful mama's out there. Especially my own. The relationship with my mom was and is the most important relationship of my life. I celebrate all mothers as they direct, teach, and mold children into thriving adults.

My mom. My awesome sauce :-)

Sometimes...

Patience + Perservance = Success

Photographing children diagnosed with autism has its challenges, but definitely can be successful. Brothers, Jaden (2) and Jeremiah (5) were such fun boys. They made our shoot a special experience for me. Their mother said they had never been able to have a pleasant photo shoot with both of them due to their disability, however Your Jazzyness was up for the test! I wanted to make sure our setting was comfortable and casual. No formal studio. No one shouting "tilt your head to the right and say cheese." Thats sooo not my style. A little patience and perserverance went a long way. In the end, it all worked out beautifully.  The photos are a piece of brotherly, carefree, love.
Check out these characteritic candids!

This is Jeremiah. He's a fun-loving, firecracker! And do you see those curls??!! Friggin' adorable.

This is Jaden. A very sweet soul.

If this isn't precious, I don't know what is. I just melted when I looked at this.

The rough & tumble episode. Boys will be boys.

Kimberly was SUCH a warm, nurturing, and sweet mother. I couldn't help but to include this in our session. There's nothing like holding your mama's hand. Lovely.

The Charm of a Child

Hello Jazzy readers! Today I had the wonderful opportunity of photographing one amazing little 4 year old! I adore shooting children. I love their charm, energy, fearlessness, and how their hearts are visibly worn on their faces. The experiences are classic. Its a goosebumps kinda feeling when I know I've captured a precious and/or funny moment that their parents will cherish for a lifetime. Little 4 year old Gianna's heart was written all over her body language. This little diva has so much personality that she pretty much took over the shoot and all I had to do was follow her lead. Below are some photos of the fun-loving experience on an overcast day in Laguna Beach. So what?!... the sun wasn't shinin', Gianna had enough light in her spirit for everybody (including our local meteorologist) to see. Enjoy.
